Sundargarh win state schools hockey titles

Host Sundargarh bagged a double by winning both the boys and girls titles in the Odisha State Schools (Under-17) Hockey Championship, which concluded here at Panposh Sports Hostel (PSH) ground today.

In the girls` final, Sundargarh comprehensively beat Bhubaneswar 6-0. Rashmi Ekka scored three goals, while Asim Kanchan Barla, Rojita Kujur and Madhusmita Xalxo netted one each. Sundargarh boys` team handed out a 3-0 defeat to Sambalpur with one each goal coming from the sticks of Amit Chirmako, Rasanand Xalxo and Sushil Ekka.

Rourkela Steel Plant`s DGM (Sports) Minati Mohapatra handed over the prizes in the presence of former PSH hockey coach Sylvester Toppo and Rourkela Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Subrata Patnaik.
